Amorcita | Roma Norte

We walked into Amorcita for the gelato. We stayed for everything else.

Tucked into Tonalá 194 in the heart of Roma Norte, Amorcita is one of those places that quietly does way more than you'd expect. From the outside, it looks like a gelateria. And it is, but once you step inside, you realize it's also a wine bar, a breakfast spot, a matcha destination, and one of the most charming corners of the neighborhood.

The Gelato

Let's start with what brought us here. The gelato at Amorcita is handmade with fresh, locally sourced ingredients, and you can taste the difference. We went straight for the pistachio and didn't regret it for a second. Rich, creamy, and the kind of flavor that makes you close your eyes for a moment. The owner, Anna Rose, left London and moved to Italy specifically to study the science of gelato before opening Amorcita. That level of intention shows up in every scoop.

Matcha, Affogato and Gelato | Amorcita

The Affogato

If you've never had an affogato, this is the place to try your first one. It's a simple concept, a shot of espresso poured over gelato, but when both the coffee and the gelato are this good, the result is something you'll keep thinking about. Anna herself walked us through the process, and watching her talk about the balance between the bitterness of the espresso and the sweetness of the gelato made it clear this isn't just a menu item. It's her thing.

The Matcha

We weren't expecting a gelateria to nail a matcha. But they do. Properly made, perfectly balanced, and served in a space that somehow makes a Monday morning feel intentional. It's a small detail, but it says a lot about how much thought goes into everything here.

The Breakfast

Avocado Toast | Breakfast | Amorcita

This is where Amorcita really caught us off guard. They serve breakfast all day, and it's not an afterthought. We had the avocado toast with a fried egg, chili, and kimchi on top, and it was genuinely one of the best breakfasts we've had in the neighborhood. The kind of plate that makes you want to slow down and stay a while.

The Wine

Here's the thing that most people don't know: Amorcita is also a wine bar. The selection is small, curated, and it changes every single month. Anna handpicks the bottles, so whatever you find today might not be there next time. It's a great excuse to come back, and to pair something unexpected with your gelato.

The Space

Clean, classic, aesthetic without trying too hard. The kind of place where you walk in feeling rushed and leave feeling calm. Natural light, warm tones, and just enough room to feel intimate without being cramped. It photographs beautifully, but more importantly, it feels good to sit in.

The Details

Where: Tonalá 194, Roma Norte, Mexico City Hours: Sunday, Monday, Wednesday 10am – 8pm / Thursday, Friday, Saturday 10am – 10pm Instagram: @amorcitagelato What to order: The pistachio gelato, the affogato, the avocado toast with kimchi, and whatever wine Anna is pouring this month.

Why We Recommend It

Because it's the kind of place that does five things and does all of them well. That's rare. Most spots in Roma Norte pick one lane and stick to it, but Amorcita picked five and somehow made them all feel effortless. Whether you're starting your morning or ending your evening, it works.

We'll be back. Probably for the gelato. Definitely for the wine
